(SALEM) - For 27 years, Chemeketa Community College's Building Inspection program has sponsored the Stan Davey Classic Auto Show to raise money for the Dislocated Residential Fire Victims' Fund of Marion County Fire Department District #1. The Building Inspection program takes advantage of Building Safety Week, May 6th to 12th, to raise public awareness of building safety and fire prevention, as well as the role played by fire prevention officials, local and state building departments and federal agencies. One of Chemeketa's faculty members, Stan Davey, founded this popular event as a way to not only do this, but to also raise money for the Dislocated Residential Fire Victim's Fund. This year the Stan Davey Classic Auto Show will be held on Wednesday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the Salem Campus, 4000 Lancaster Drive, NE. Last year more than 90 vehicles were entered in the show. This year awards will be presented in the following categories: Pre-1940, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, Late Model, Truck, Motorcycle, Sports Car, Street Rod, Stock, Modified Stock, and Custom. Registration is $15 and includes a barbecue lunch and raffle ticket. The event includes a Car Bash, 50/50 raffle, and a display of antique fire trucks.
