(Salem, Oregon) - Marion County Sheriff's Office Sr. Deputy Martin Bennett is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a thief who stole a power hedge trimmer from a local Salem business on Friday afternoon. At about 2:15pm, the suspect entered the State Street Saw Shop at 4067 State St., in Salem. The suspect appeared to be shopping and looking at several power tools. While the employees were assisting several other customers, the suspect stole the tool and exited the store and walked west on State Street. No vehicles were seen leaving the area. A photo taken from the store's surveillance camera should assist with the identification and arrest of the thief. The property stolen was a Stihl, HS-F5 Hedge Trimmer, 24 inch blade, valued at $320.00 The State Street Saw Shop is a local, family-owned business like many others in the Salem area. The impact of this theft is significant. If you can assist with the identification of the suspect and/or the return of the stolen trimmer, please contact Sr. Deputy Bennett at 503-566-6927. Leave a message on his voicemail and he'll return your call. You can also email him at: mbennett@co.marion.or.us News Release from: Marion Co.
