Garden Tour Highlights Keizer Area and Benefits Children’s Museum

(Salem, Oregon) - The 16th Annual Garden Tour and Plant Sale benefiting A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village will be held Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. This year’s tour will feature eight beautiful gardens in the heart of the Willamette Valley in Keizer, Oregon.

During the two-day event, ticket holders can explore gardens on their own schedule between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The gardens were reviewed and carefully selected by Barb Crothers, Lorraine Seal and Cathy Stiles of the volunteer committee. Each garden features its own unique style and will delight the senses with the use of texture, color and artistic design.

Many of the gardens on the tour have been works in progress for 20 years or more. This, in particular, is evident in the garden of Ray Schreiner of Schreiner’s Iris Gardens, who has spent over 30 years working on his 3 + acre garden oasis. Another garden, the Dunn’s residence, is a great example of how time adds depth and character to a garden filled with botanical delights and childhood memories.

Tickets (which include a program and map of the tour) are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, and will be available for purchase starting in May from all Salem and Keizer Roth’s Markets and at A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village.

Participants are also encouraged to stop and shop at the Plant Sale, a free event open to the public at Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill June 3and 4 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Vendors will provide a wonderful variety of perennials, annuals, flowers, shrubs, herbs and unique plants to enhance your own special garden.

All proceeds from the plant sale and garden tour benefit A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village and its educational programs. This event is sponsored by Pioneer Trust Bank
