(SALEM) - Salem police are asking for the public’s help in locating three men who robbed a Salem man at knifepoint early this morning in downtown Salem.

Lt. Dan Dietz says 47-year-old Michael Karnes was waiting to catch a commuter bus on Liberty Street SE to get to his job at the Wilsonville Nike distribution center just before 5:00 AM, when the three men approached him.

One of the men displayed a knife. Karnes struggled with the men, who got his wallet and fled the area. Karnes was not injured in the incident.

Dietz says officers and a K-9 searched the area for the men, but turned up nothing.

The men were described as in their early 20’s, between 140 to 160 pounds, 5’8 to 6’0, and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information should call Salem police at (503) 588-6050.
