May-01-2006 00:01TweetFollow @OregonNews Young Girl Dies in Rollover Crash South of McMinnvilleSalem-News.comThis is the second fatal crash in the last five days on this stretch of LaFayette Highway, Frederick "Rick" Braun of Forest Grove died Tuesday when a driver turned in front of his Harley Davidson.
(MCMINNVILLE) - An 11-year old girl died Saturday morning after the vehicle she was a passenger in rolled over on SE La Fayette Highway about five miles south of McMinnville. Police say a Nissan Quest van driven by the victim's mother, Maria Rios-Andrade, was northbound at milepost 5.5 on SE La Fayette Highway at approximately 8:30 AM. After coming out of a left hand curve, investigators say Maria Rios-Andrade lost control for an unknown reason and the van rolled, coming to rest upside in the ditch bordering the southbound lane. The victim, 11-year old Lisbeth Martinez Rios was seated in the right front passenger seat and was ejected. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary information indicates she was only wearing the shoulder strap portion of the safety restraint system and not the lap belt. Maria Rios-Andrade received non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville for treatment. Oregon State Police troopers out of the McMinnville Area Command office are conducting the investigation. The highway remains closed for the investigation. Articles for April 30, 2006 | Articles for May 1, 2006 | Articles for May 2, 2006 | googlec507860f6901db00.html Quick Links

My son was a classmate of Lisbeth's, (1st, 2nd, and this year in 4th grade at Edwards Elementary in Newberg. He told me that he would describe her as being "beautiful." This event has been so heartbreaking. I, too, pray that the God of compassion and all comfort would comfort her family in their time of distress, grief and trouble.
