(Earth-Tensor Fascia Latae) - It is not necessary to draw back far from the Multiverse Browser to find drama. Within the very website which hosts these chronicles there is plenty--for example, the opening of the adult venue club here in Salem which has invoked anger in some and catcalls from others.

The issue is not whether such a business should be allowed to exist, but instead where. Communities regulate business, agricultural and residential zones.

It seems clear to me that they should also be able to regulate where certain kinds of businesses might locate as those businesses will affect property values and quality of life issues. Neighborhood associations already do something of the kind.

But, of course, at issue is this business's product: the lust-provoking sight of the undraped female body. As a former student of life drawing I spent numerous hours drawing nudes, and I learned to see the human figure in a number of ways which are elevating to the intellect and not just libido.

To illustrate let me present a tale from a parallel Salem which will help me make my point.

Rosenberg: That reminds me of when I was an art student. The custodian refilled the toweling paper dispenser each day during life drawing. Sometimes twice if there was an attractive model. Then when we got a new dean of the art school his first memo to students and faculty was "You're using too much toweling paper!"

Someone need security?

C-mudge: So what else is new ? IF we are to require public-statement "honesty" across-board for all, that'll surely kill off this crowd and politicians rapidly, first. Democracy needs teeth as well as soothing lotion, and action to remove poisonous, known-damaging elements is indigenous in it. Commonsense application by representative government is the key --which takes us full circle to "spin" applied by opponents here as well as by those seeking private gain by damaging actions, when closely examined.

Matt; I got an inside track and for a small bribe I'll tell you, but I can't touch the imagery. Let me know. On parallel spirals the female form is also appreciated, and often on the beaches where I am just walk around with little to protect them from o'er tanning!, so I can see a little of several viewpoints on subject. I hope Rosenberg doesn't provide the security personal as bouncers! I'd better check it out myself when I can. otherwise I'll trust the S-N staff for info.

That really kills me, so I've got to wait for days to see what happens? Worse than a soap opera Leonardo... but that is life isn't it?

I can't speak for others, but I'M saying the issue is not whether such a business should be allowed to exit, but where.

Curmudgeon March 28, 2007 2:00 pm (Pacific time)

You write "The issue is not whether such a business should be allowed to exist, but instead where." I disagree with you. The people in opposition to this club may TELL you that's their position, but in reality they want this type of business banned. Period. But they are not honest enough to admit it.
