(ALBANY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday evening's fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 41-year old man when he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the Albany area. According to OSP Sergeant Craig Flierl, on March 22, 2010 at approximately 9:00 p.m. 41-year old Roger Wolcott Blakely III, was on foot trying to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 from west to east when he was struck in the right southbound lane by a 2002 Buick LeSabre driven by 60-year old Dana W. Bishop of Springfield. Mr. Blakely was pronounced deceased at the scene. His last listed address in Oregon was in southwest Portland but next of kin were located and notified in Los Angeles, California. There was no associated vehicle found in the area. Dana Bishop, his wife, and mother-in-law were not injured. OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Albany Police Department, Albany Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene. The right southbound lane was closed for about 2 1/2 hours during the investigation.
