UPDATE: Two Arrested in Albany Officer Involved Shooting

(ALBANY) - Police have arrested two men in connection with an officer involved shooting the occurred on Wednesday in which an officer fired his duty weapon at a reportedly stolen vehicle as it accelerated towards him.

Albany police spokesman Capt. Eric Carter says 42-year old Joe Luis Duran, identified as the driver of the reported stolen 1979 Chevy pickup, was taken into custody at a residence in the 1900 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Duran was interviewed by Oregon State Police Detectives and lodged in the Linn County Jail on charges of Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering, Attempt to Elude, State Parole Violation Warrant

23-year old Shawn Kenneth Oard, identified as the passenger in the reported stolen 1979 Chevy pickup, was taken into custody at a residence in the 100 block of SE Waverly Drive.

Oard was interviewed by Oregon State Police Detectives and lodged in the Linn County Jail on the following warrants: FTA Harassment, FTA Criminal Trespass II, FTA Disorderly Conduct, State Parole Violation

The officer involved was identified as Bob Ledford, a 4-year veteran of the Albany Police Department.

As is common in any traumatic incident, Officer Ledford will be in an off-duty status capacity until he is able to return to duty Carter said.

The Oregon State Police, in conjunction with the Linn County District Attorney`s Office, is continuing to investigate this incident.
