(SALEM) - The North Salem High School JROTC Color Guard B, and A have qualified for the Northwest Regional Championships. On Saturday, March 11th, North Salem High School 's JROTC teams competed in their final regular drill meet of the 2005-2006 season at Rogers High School in Spokane, Washington. Color Guard B, commanded by senior Brittanie Heimer, took second place at the meet. Color Guard A, commanded by senior Francisco Garibay, took third. The Unarmed Drill Team, commanded by senior Brittanie Heimer, took first place for the second consecutive meet. The Armed Drill Team, commanded by senior Justin Stuart, took third. Brittanie was recognized as the top unarmed commander and Justin finished second in the armed category. The air rifle marksmanship team, commanded by freshman Caroline Midkiff, earned its first top-six team finish, and shooters Ethan McMahon and William Luke earned individual recognition. In the unarmed drilldown, Kayla Carreon finished first. In the armed drilldown, Patricia Cardona finished second and Betty Teters finished third. Color Guard A and the Unarmed Drill Team earned Cascade Division regular season championships -- North Salem 's first in eight years of competition. Color Guard B and the Armed Drill Team finished the regular season second in the standings. North Salem was one of the few schools in the thirty-eight school Northwest Drill and Rifle Conference to qualify both drill teams and both color guards for the four-state Northwest Regional Championships, to be held April 22nd at Mountain View High School in Bend.
