(SALEM) - All Salem-Keizer Elementary Schools are holding a special evening registration on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM, to allow kindergarten-age children to register for the 2006-07 school year. In order to register a child for kindergarten, the child must be five years old on or before September 1. Parents will need to provide legal proof of their child`s age, (a birth certificate is preferred), and an updated record of their child`s immunizations. If you cannot attend Thursday`s registration, you can register your child at your neighborhood elementary school anytime during regular business hours starting Friday. If you are not sure which school is in your neighborhood area, call the boundary information line at (503) 399-3246. For more information about Kindergarten Roundup contact your local elementary school or the district elementary education office at (503) 399-2632. What if your child's birthday is toward the end of September - but you feel he or she is really ready for kindergarten??? Are there any exceptions to the September 1st cut-off date???
