Detectives say they responded to a suspicious circumstances call at 12:56 AM, where they located 24-year old Tonya Anne Jones and 22-year old Brandon Michael Schmunk, both Albany residents. Tonya Jones was a person of interest in the fatal crash, and Brandon Schmunk agreed to come to the Albany Police Department and speak with detectives. Investigators say the circumstances the crash involve a race between two vehicles in the 2100 block of Santiam Highway in Albany early Saturday morning. One of the vehicles struck a Honda with two 20-year old Linn County men inside. They were stopped at a red light. Both men died.
