Oregon Contractor Kills Employee Inside Missouri Motel Room

(MOUNT VERNON, Mo.) - A construction contractor from Oregon was arraigned Monday on charges that he shot and killed an employee Saturday night in their motel room in Mount Vernon.

40-year-old Alan J. Schaedler, from Eugene, is facing charges of second-degree murder in the death of Timothy J. Thornsberry, 36, from Coos Bay.

Police say they received a call at 10:09 p.m. Saturday reporting the shooting. Room 18 of the USA Inn, located at 1015 E. Mount Vernon Blvd. When officers arrived they found Thornsberry lying face down near the center of the room, with a single gunshot wound to his chest. A .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol was recovered at the scene.
