(SALEM) - A former Crossler Middle School special education teacher accused of sexual abuse is expected to plead guilty Monday to sexually abusing one of his male students. The Marion County D-A`s office says 42-year-old Alan Coorts will plead guilty to first-degree sex abuse, five counts of first-degree custodial interference, and one count of third-degree sex abuse. The D-A`s office says the boy, then younger than 14, was abused at Coorts home on various occasions in 2004 during sleepovers that the boys parents were unaware of. Coorts initially fled Oregon and was arrested in Knoxville, Tennessee in February 2005, then returned to Oregon to face charges. My son was a student of Alan Coorts during the year of 2004. Because of his inability to provide a quality Education Plan for my son, I opted to homeschool him the following year. I am so glad I did. I am so glad that Alan Coorts hated me for my constant pressure and demands. I think it helped protect my son. The worst part of it is that the adminstration had the nerve to tell me I wasn't serving my son well by bringing him home to homeschool him. I guess they thought my son was better off being stuck in a room with a pedophile who had switched schools 14 times in the past 10 years for eight hours a day. Idiocy! I hope his other victims, and there ARE other victims will come forward.
