(SALEM, Ore.) - A Mercedes SUV crashed around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, and deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office say the victims in the single car crash in the 3000 Block of Perkins Street NE are fortunate to have not been hurt worse.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the 2000 Mercedes SUV went off the road and impacted a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle.

The driver, 31-year old Krista Fisher of Keizer had to be extricated from the vehicle.

"Both Krista and her two children ages 12 and 14 were transported to the Salem Hospital for observation," Lorance said.

"Deputies on scene said that it was very fortunate that Krista and her children were not more seriously hurt in this crash."

She says the cause of the crash is still under investigation, however, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
