(Keizer) - With the approach of spring, people often begin thinking about sprucing up their front and back yards and gardens. Officials with the Keizer Fire District would like to remind City of Keizer residents that no backyard burning is allowed within the Keizer city limits. The Keizer City Council adopted a permanent burning ban in 2001. The rules were put into effect for a number of reasons according to Keizer officials, and residents who choose to violate the no backyard burning ordinance face fines and penalties.

The ban applies to all residents living within the city limits of Keizer whether live within the boundaries of the Keizer Fire District or Marion County Fire District #1. If you are not sure whether or not the burning ban applies to the area you live in, contact Keizer Fire at 390-9111.
