(Pedee) - A fire Thursday night destroyed a barn northeast of Pedee in rural Polk County. Pedee is in logging country a new miles southwest of the city of Dallas. The fire at 17170 Maple Grove Road was reported just after 8:30 PM, Polk County Fire District No. 1 officials said. A fire spokesman says the fire had already claimed much of the barn upon their arrival. When crews arrived the 300-square-foot barn, containing chickens, a utility trailer, and farm equipment was completely engulfed. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading, but say that in spite of best efforts, they were not able to save anything within the barn. The loss was estimated at $80,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation Articles for March 2, 2006 | Articles for March 3, 2006 | Articles for March 4, 2006 | googlec507860f6901db00.html Quick Links
