(SWEET HOME, Ore.) - Two people died Monday in a single car rollover that happened just before 3:00 PM in the hills above Foster Lake, near Sweet Home.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says his deputies first learned of the crash when the Linn County Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Center received a call reporting a single vehicle roll over somewhere in the area of Sunnyside Road, above Foster Reservoir.

Mueller says the caller, one of the passengers in the involved vehicle, was unsure of the exact location of the crash.

Dispatchers were able to locate the general area of the call by using GPS tracking of the cell phone call. Emergency Services Personnel responded from Sweet Home and Lebanon Fire Departments.

The vehicle was a 1993 Chevrolet four wheel drive pickup which was driven by 34-year old Patrick Leroy Duaine Dugan of Sweet Home, who was driving down the Green Peter 300 line which is a spur road off of Sunny Side Road. Investigators believe he lost control while navigating a sharp curve on the gravel road.

Mueller says the pickup rolled over, ejecting four occupants from the bed of the pickup. Dugan was transported to the Lebanon Community Hospital with a possible broken back and other non-life threatening injuries.

He was accompanied by his wife, 26-year old Leslie Ann Dugan, also of Sweet Home. She was riding in the cab of the pickup and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis with minor injuries.

The occupants riding in the open bed of the pickup were the five-year old and ten-year old children of the Dugan’s along with two adult friends of the Dugan’s.

10-year old Katelynn Dugan died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. 5-year old Aaron Dugan was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with his mother for evaluation.

21-year old Brian James Gilbert of Sweet Home, also died at the scene after being ejected from the bed of the pickup.

19-year old Lillian Ann Gilbert, the sister of Brian Gilbert, was transported to Albany General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She is also from Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel transported both deceased victims pending further arrangements. The case remains under investigation. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
