Reverend Benny & Mister Sid's At Your Service #50

Do we live in a culture of abuse?

Benny and Sid #50
By Glen Bledsoe

(Salem and at-large) - In high school I knew a fellow student who never (well, hardly ever) said the right the thing to the right person.

He bought, for example, a faux lettermen's jacket with sleeves only a slightly different hue from our school colors.

Within 48 hours a couple of jocks caught him behind the school, ripped his jacket, gave him a matching set of fat lips, and generally proved themselves to be stereotypical dolts.

Lest you feel sorry for my unfortunate classmate I quite by accident happened upon him in a mall many years after graduation.

After a brief exchange of words, he told me that he and his wife had opened a beauty salon. Maybe a little odd, but okay. Then he added that he sometimes beat his wife.

Unfortunately all the athletes of the class of '69 had gone on to become insurance agents and probably beat their wives as well and so were of little use in this instance.

Get your 2 x 4's and your torches and let's storm this next monster's castle. He may not beat his wife, but rest assured he never gets anything right.
