UPDATE: Missing 9-Year-Old Child in West Salem Found Safe

(Salem, Ore. ) - Salem-News.com has learned that a 9-year-old child as been found safe in West Salem.

Salem Police say the child was found at a friends house and is being returned to his parents.

According to sources the search was being conducted behind the Safeway store on Edgewater Street NW, and around the Audubon Nature Reserve Memorial Park and trail off Eola Drive NW, and Walker Middle School.

The child, William Cruz, was last seen walking southbound on Patterson St NW in West Salem from Walker Middle School at about 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Salem Police has set-up a command post at Walker Middle School.
