California Woman Falls to Her Death on Oregon Coast

The woman fell down a steep embankment off the trail, and suffered severe head injuries.

(COOS BAY, Ore. ) - Investigators in Coos County, Oregon are investigating the death of a Burbank, California woman who fell to her death on Tuesday.

The Coos County Sheriff's office says the woman fell while walking along a trail east of the city of Coos Bay along the West Fork of the Millicoma River.

A police spokesman says the 53-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man were staying in the area to do some fishing, when they became separated when the man found the woman as he came back up from the river. He ran to call 911, but by the time fire personal had arrived, the woman was pronounced dead.

The woman fell down a steep embankment off the trail, and suffered severe head injuries.

Her name has not yet been released.
