(SALEM, Ore. ) - The City of Salem Public Works Department and the Polk County Department of Public Works wants you to Be Aware! of some upcoming road construction projects this week that could delay your commute.

Please make a note of these projects, and if your commute takes you through one of these workzones, PLEASE! slow down, and expect some delays.

Beginning Monday, 25th Street SE will be CLOSED to through traffic at Shelton Ditch in order to widen the existing bridge.

This work and street closure will continue into mid October.

During construction 25th Street SE will be closed to through-traffic from Hyde Street SE to Hyde Court SE.

Local access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the project.

Primary detour routes will be on Mission Street SE, 17th Street SE, Airport Way SE, and State Street.

A temporary pedestrian bridge over Shelton Ditch will be constructed and will be available throughout the project.

The 25th Street Bridge at Shelton Ditch improvement project will widen the existing narrow, bridge to match the width of the approach roadway and further accommodate automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.

The outer 6 feet on each side of the existing bridge will be removed and replaced with 9.5 feet of new bridge.

The new width will closely match the curb lines at each end of the bridge, eliminating the "bottle neck" affect that the existing bridge creates.

Chemeketa St NE Between Liberty St NE and Commercial St NE. 6/18 - 6/19, 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Street closure for removing a precast panel from Chemeketa Parkade.

Sunnyview Rd NE Between Warner St NE and 16th St NE 6/18 - 6/20, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Sunnyview Road NE between 16th Street NE and Warner Street NE will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers. This closure is for installation of sewer service for a development project.
