(SALEM) - An alarm alerted Salem Police officers to the presence of intruders Wednesday night at the Salem Center Mall.

The alarm sounded shortly after 1:00 AM, officers responded immediately to the Meier & Frank store at 400 High St NE.

Officers say they observed a person inside the building, so they set up an outer perimeter, and began searching the store. Two suspects were apprehended when they fled into the attached parking garage.

Investigators say a third suspect attempted to elude police by walking on top of the skybridge to Salem Center, crossed the roof of Salem Center, and then tried to jump down by Mervyn's loading dock, injuring himself slightly.

Police say the suspects had gained access through the roof of Meier & Frank. Jewelry and clothing worth more than $5000 was recovered at the scene.

Police arrested 19-year old Curtin Joran of Salem, along with two juvenile males. All three were charged with second-degree Burglary.
