(SALEM) - The Salem Police Department Community Response Team conducted an Minor Decoy Operation at business establishments licensed to sell alcohol, throughout the City of Salem. Lt. Steve Bellshaw says officers use the program as an educational opportunity for businesses who do sell to minors as well as a congratulatory opportunity for businesses who check ID's and refuse the sell to minors. CRT uses Salem Police Cadets who are under twenty one (21) years of age and has them attempt to purchase alcohol from various businesses throughout the city, to include convenience stores, restaurants and grocery stores. These operations are done several times throughout the year by Salem police in partnership with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Wednesday`s operation was comprised of thirty nine random businesses, from the over three hundred licensed businesses in Salem and thirteen business who have previously sold during these operations, for a total of fifty two businesses. During the operation eleven of them sold alcohol to our minor decoys Bellshaw said. The business which sold were: Red Lion Hotel-Salem 3301 Market St. NE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor La Donna's Exotic Lounge 940 Commercial St. NE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor; 2 counts Don Pedros Mayor 1570 Lancaster Dr. NE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Holland's Bar & Grill 2155 Silverton Rd. NE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Mona Lisa's Café & Catering 136 High St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Rock 'n' Rogers Diner 3135 Commercial St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Space Age Fuel 1080 Lancaster Dr. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor J. James Restaurant at Park Plaza 325 High St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Life Source Natural Foods 2649 Commercial St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Circle K Store #1664 4995 Commercial St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor Chinn's Restaurant 4835 Commercial St. SE - Providing Alcohol to a Minor These businesses were educated on ways of preventing future sales to minors and the incidents were referred to OLCC. The servers were also issued citations for Providing Alcohol to a Minor, ORS 471.410, a class A misdemeanor Bellshaw said. OH MY :0!! Some of the businesses on this list are very popular places. Shame on YOU :( And I agree with Darrell and James...Where's the list of the business that did NOT sell? Kuto's to them :)

Good point! It looks to me like there were 41 law-abiding, upstanding businesses that deserve a pat on the back. "Good form" to them!

I would have liked to see the list of business which did NOT sell to minors. They deserve equal recognition.
