(SALEM) - The Marion County Fair is extending the deadline to June 23rd for teens who want a chance to show off their musical talents and win up to $1,000. Teen bands with a majority of members 21 or younger are encouraged to enter. The entry fee for a band is $40. Entry forms and rules are available on the fair Web site at www.mcfair.net or by calling (503) 588-5212. Preliminary rounds will be held July 7th and July 8th at the IKE Box in downtown Salem. Finals will be held during the Marion County Fair at the Oregon State Fairgrounds on July 14th from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. The Extreme Teen Band Challenge is a featured event of Extreme Teen Challenge Day on Friday, July 14th. Teen admission will be only $1 that day. Other fair activities for youth will include BMX bike demonstrations, three-on-three basketball and free-throw challenge, an Extreme Makeover, and carnival ride discounts.
