(SALEM) - Wayne Geiger cares for farm animals that have been abused or neglected. The Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary is a project that grew from a direct need to shelter livestock when Wayne worked for what was then known as the Willamette Valley Humane Society.

A project created initially to house four abused sheep from a farm, grew into a multi-acre facility that cares for nearly 150 abused and neglected animals.

With the growth came an emerging list of needs.

As Sara Labberton reports, the facility is popular with volunteers but they can always use more for a seemingly infinite list of duties that bring life and comfort to critters that often miss the priority list.

The group's Website www.lighthousefarmsanctuary.org has all the information you need to start your own relationship with the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary. They need financial support as well as additional volunteers.

This is an illuminating news story about lucky "farm" animals. Wonderful footage: a pleasure to watch.

Great story on Lighthouse. Wayne is a great guy who helped us to get 4 llamas and a pygmy goat. We are very greatful and appreciate his and staff ongoing work.
