Bank Robber on Oregon Interstate Corridor Sought by PoliceSalem-News.comThe alleged robberies took place in 2007.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A man who police say is responsible for a string of bank robberies in Oregon along the Interstate-5 corridor is the subject of a growing investigation.
The Oregon Financial Institution Security Task Force (FIST) and Bank of America are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a long series of bank robberies along the I-5 corridor. In three of the robberies, he is alleged to have targeted bank branches inside grocery stores. They say he implied that he had a weapon in at least one robbery. In all the robberies, he wore at least a hat. In several of the robberies he also is reported to have worn sunglasses and possibly a wig.
The suspect reportedly robbed the Wells Fargo Bank on January 20th of this year, at 15570 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard. On January 27th, the suspect is reported to have robbed the Bank of America, located at 6901 NE Sandy Boulevard in Portland. The same man is a suspect in a March 23rd robbery at the OSU Credit Union, 4990 River Rd. NE, Keizer. A robbery at the Washington Mutual Bank, 9980 SE 92nd Avenue in Happy Valley is attributed to the suspect, police say. The Wells Fargo Bank at 1455 NE Division in Gresham is connected to the suspect according to police, that happened on April 21st.
In Salem, the man is accused of robbing the First Tech Credit Union at 2829 Lancaster Dr. NE, on May 24th. He is also a suspect in a robbery at the Washington Mutual Bank at 2364 W. Burnside Street in Portland that happened just last week, on June 4th.
