(SALEM, Ore. ) - The City of Salem Public Works Department wants Salem area drivers to Be Aware! of Salem area road construction projects taking place this week. Remember to slow down when you see orange signs, barrels and barricades. Speeding is the second most common cause of work zone crashes. Salem-Area Road Construction Report: Skyline Road South: Between Liberty Road S and Kuebler Boulevard S. 6/10 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Skyline Road S between Liberty Road S and Kuebler Boulevard S will be reduced to one lane of traffic at various locations. Expect congestion at this location and use another route if possible. These lane closures are for utility locates as part of an upcoming street improvement project. Brush College Road NW: At the intersection of Doaks Ferry Road NW. 6/9 to 6/11 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. The intersection of Brush College Road NW and Doaks Ferry Road NW will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers. Expect congestion at this location and use another route if possible. These lane closures are for utility work. Commercial Street SE: Between Oak Street SE and Mission Street SE - 6/10 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Commercial Street SE between Oak Street SE and Mission Street SE will be reduced to two lanes of traffic. Expect congestion at this location and use another route to avoid delays. This lane closure is for utility locate work as part of an upcoming street resurfacing project. Liberty Street SE: Between Oak Street SE and Trade Street SE. 6/9 to 6/16 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Liberty Street SE between Oak Street SE and Trade Street SE will be reduced to three lanes of traffic. Expect congestion at this location and use another route if possible. This lane closure is to install utilities at Fire Station 1. 7th Street NW and 9th Street NW: At Murlark Ave NW - 6/9 to 6/10 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The following streets will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers for paving on Murlark Avenue NW: 7th Street NW between Taggart Drive NW and Patterson Street NW; 9th Street NW between Wallace Road NW and Patterson Street NW. Use an alternate route to avoid delays. Lone Oak Road SE: Between Mildred Ln SE and Boone Rd SE. 6/9 to 6/11 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lone Oak Rd SE will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers for tree trimming around the power lines. Sunnyside Road SE: Between Keubler blvd SE and Wiltsey Rd SE. 6/11 to 6/17 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunnyside Rd SE will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers for tree trimming around the power lines. Margarett St NW: Between West Hills Way NW and Diane Avenue NW. 6/9/ to 6/11 - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Street closure for a sewer service replacement. State Street and Court Street NE: The asphaltic slurry seal scheduled to be completed at selected locations on State Street and Court Street NE has been delayed and is scheduled to being the week of June 9 through June 13. Salem Road and Driveway Co. will be applying an asphaltic slurry seal as part of the remaining work needed to complete the Downtown Street Resurfacing Project. This slurry seal work is weather dependent, but is not anticipated to last longer than a few days. While the majority of locations to be sealed will be within parking areas, there will be several short lane closures that will affect traffic and parking. These areas include the southern travel lane on State Street east of Winter Street SE, and the intersection of Waverly Street NE and State Street. Parking will not be allowed near the construction areas during this work. All businesses will remain open. _________________________________________
