(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The Oregon women’s basketball program has signed fifth-year Gonzaga transfer Danielle Walter, head coach Kelly Graves announced on Thursday.

Walter, a 6-foot- combo guard from Pasco, Wash., will be able to play immediately in her final season of eligibility after graduating from Gonzaga. She will enroll in a graduate school program at Oregon.

“Danielle will add size and depth for us on the perimeter next season,” Graves said. “She knows how we do things and will be a great help in teaching that new style of play to our current players while contributing on the court.”

Walter averaged 4.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.3 rebounds while appearing in all 34 games for the Bulldogs last season. She made her first collegiate start on Dec. 30 at Pacific and played a career-high 25 minutes in the game.

Walter dished out a career-high seven assists in three different games last season and scored a career-best 14 points in a win at Saint Mary’s on Dec. 28. The senior shot 78.8 percent from the free throw line a year ago (41-of-52) and had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.9.

Walter redshirted at Gonzaga as a freshman in 2010-11 after joining the team from Pasco HS. She was the No. 73 ranked recruit in the nation coming out of high school after averaging a Columbia League-leading 22.8 points per game as a senior. She was a first team all-state pick in each of her final three years of high school.

Walter joins fellow transfer, 6-foot-5 center Jacinta Vandenberg from Fresno State, as newcomers on the Ducks’ roster next season. Oregon also welcomes two freshmen into the fold next year - guard Lexi Bando (Eugene, Ore.) and forward Tatum Neubert (Elizabeth, Colo.). Early signee McKynzie Fort (Etiwanda, Calif.) was given a release from Oregon by Graves.
