Lightning Strikes Tree, Damages Three Homes

The lighting caused a Douglas fir tree, estimated to be at least 110-feet tall, to splinter into several sections.

(ALOHA, Ore. ) - A lightning strike at about 8:15 AM Monday, hit a large fir tree in the back yard of 20671 SW Anna Court, Aloha, causing the tree to explode into pieces and damaging at least three homes.

One person at home at the time of the incident reported a medical problem immediately following the lighting strike.

That person was assessed by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue paramedics, treated and released at the scene.

The lighting caused a Douglas fir tree, estimated to be at least 110-feet tall, to splinter into several sections.

The 45-foot upper section of the tree fell against a home at 20688 SW Gracie Street.

Two homes adjacent to the Gracie Street residence suffered minor damage by flying debris.

Firefighters from TVF&R and Hillsboro Fire responded to the incident.

Residents were briefly evacuated from their damaged homes until it was determined to be safe to re-enter.

There were no injuries resulting from the lightning or the tree.
