Jun-01-2009 14:47TweetFollow @OregonNews FBI Releases Preliminary 2008 Crime Stats for Oregon and WashingtonSalem-News.comIn Oregon and Southwest Washington, we are seeing a mixed bag of results. Statistics from the report include the following:
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Today, the FBI released a preliminary report detailing January - December 2008 crime data based on the submissions of 12,750 law enforcement agencies in the U.S. Each of these agencies had to submit at least six comparable months of data to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program in both 2007 and 2008. Nationally, both violent and property crimes saw decreases of 2.5% and 1.6% respectively. In Oregon and Southwest Washington, we are seeing a mixed bag of results. Statistics from the report include the following: * Portland saw a slight increase in the number of murders, but decreases in every other crime category measured. * Gresham saw an increase in the numbers of murders, aggravated assaults, and burglaries, but it saw decreases in the rape, robbery, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft categories. * Eugene saw increases in every crime category. * Salem saw increases in the number of murders, robberies and burglaries, but decreases in the numbers of aggravated assaults, larceny-thefts and motor vehicle thefts. * Vancouver saw increases in the number of robberies and motor vehicle thefts, but decreases in the numbers of murders, rapes, aggravated assaults, burglaries and larceny-thefts. Note: the raw numbers of murders and, in some cases rapes, are so small, that any increase or decrease is going to tend to show as a large percentage. The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program collects data on the following crimes: murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-threat, and motor vehicle thefts. ABC reports that Muhammad had recently traveled to Yemen, where he was arrested for using a Somali passport. "There doesn't appear to be a wider conspiracy or, at this point in time, any indication that he's a part of a larger group or a conspiracy to go further," Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas is quoted as saying. Nonetheless, the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force is investigating if Muhammad had acted alone." No wider conspiracy? What was he doing in YEMEN with a SOMALI passport. Would YOU know how to get that done without help? How would a poor ex-convict from Little Rock get this kind of access?

Regarding the recent domestic terror killing of one of our soldiers: The suspect, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, lived on Mara Lynn Drive. He was formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe and apparently moved to Little Rock from Memphis two to three months ago. He also had lived in Nashville, Tenn. recently. Police identified the dead soldier as Pvt. William Long, 24, of Conway. Wounded was Pvt. Quentin Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville. He’s in serious condition, but isn’t believed to have life-threatening wounds. Recent news reports say this terrorist trained in Yemen and was arrested earlier with a Somali passport. How many of these domestic terrorists are out there? Is the Justice Department going to send U.S. Marshalls to protect recruiters like they sent them to abortion clinics? Is Eric Holder going to prosecute this individual as a terrorist, or let the state do it? How come he let other muslims go for voter intimidation? A pattern may be developing...
