ODOT Offers Drivers Tips on Keeping Safe While Passing Large Commercial Trucks (AUDIO)

(SALEM) - Motorists share Oregon roadways with thousands of large commercial trucks everyday.

Approximately 40 percent of all crashes involving cars and trucks are caused by cars.

From 2002-2005, improper passing by passenger car drivers caused more than 700 crashes resulting in 207 injuries and 30 deaths.

Do you really know how to pass them safely?

ODOT Motor Carrier spokeswoman Sally Ridenour says being aware of what they can do, and what they cannot do could save your life.

Ridenour offers drivers some advise.
