(NEWBERG) - A single vehicle crash in the 32000 block of Wilsonville Rd. claimed the life of a 46-year-old Wilsonville man early Saturday morning. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle has been identified as Russell Irvin Michel. He was not wearing safety restraints. Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said that the 12:50 PM crash 3 miles east of Newberg, occurred when the east bound Nissan Pathfinder drifted off the road and spun out of control, crashing into an embankment. Paramedics and rescue personnel from Newberg Fire Department and LifeFlight attempted unsuccessfully to revive Michel. Michel was not wearing safety restraints Crabtree said. The crash is being investigated by the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of The Multi Agency Traffic Team, whose membership is comprised of The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Newberg, McMinnville, Carlton Police Departments and Oregon State Police.
