Salem Commute Slowed After Car Slams Into Power Pole

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible for the next 4 to 5 hours while PGE crews replace the power pole.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police want you to BE AWARE! of a lane closure of one lane, eastbound, on Liberty Street NE, over the next several hours.

Police say around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning they responded to a single vehicle accident at Liberty Street NE and Grove Street NE.

When officers arrived they found a 1995 Infiniti 4-door sedan, had severed a PGE power pole at the Northeast corner of the intersection, and the driver had fled the scene.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible for the next 4 to 5 hours while PGE crews replace the power pole.
