(LINCOLN CITY, Ore. ) - The Coast Guard rescued a 15-year-old male boogie boarder near Lincoln City, Ore., Tuesday. Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay received a call around 11:00 AM of a boogie boarder in distress. A 47-foot motor life boat crew, a 25-foot response boat crew and a beach search crew were dispatched to the last known location of the boy. Air Facility North Bend deployed a Coast Guard Dolphin helicopter crew to the scene and, within nine minutes of the call, the rescue swimmer pulled the boy from the water. The boy was transported by the helicopter crew to an awaiting ambulance on the beach and was reported as being exhausted and mildly hypothermic. The Coast Guard would like to remind beachgoers that coastal waters can be extremely dangerous. Individuals taking part in coastal recreational activities should check local weather and tide conditions prior to leaving home.
