(MILWAUKIE, Ore. ) - Milwaukie Police this morning responded to a report of a man that had been struck by a train near the 2500 block of SE Olsen St. Officers found a man on the side of the tracks just after 12:40 AM that had been injured by a train. He was being given aid by an off duty certified nursing assistant and her husband. The investigation found that the man had just left a house in the 2700 block of SE Olsen St. He had fallen onto the railroad tracks when a northbound Union Pacific freight train hit him. The victim suffered life threatening leg and head injuries and was transported to OHSU. The victim has been identified as Steven Robert Dixon, 18, of Milwaukie. He is currently in the intensive care unit at OHSU in critical condition. Police say alcohol was a factor in the incident.
