(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Two suspects in a Willamina home invasion robbery were arrested this morning in the city of Toledo. Shay Kili Charley, 33 and Marlin Dwain Tolbert III Aka: Casey Tolbert, 19, were wanted in connection with the robbery and assault of a Willamina man. Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said his detectives, assisted by the Yamhill County Interagency Narcotics Team received information that Charley and Tolbert may have gone to the Oregon coast in the victims stolen Toyota pickup after the robbery. Based on this information, they blanketed the coastal communities with descriptions of the suspects and the stolen vehicle. At approximately 5:30 AM on Saturday, Toledo Police Officer Tom Harrison followed what he thought was the Toyota pickup into a neighborhood in Toledo. After watching the suspects park in a carport at 470 SE Elder Street, Officer Harrison watched as the suspects covered the pickup with a tarp and got back into the vehicle. At great personal risk, Officer Harrison approached the vehicle on foot and confirmed the license plate on the truck. He then retreated a safe distance and contacted Yamhill County detectives. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted Toledo Police in surveilling the truck until Yamhill County and Yamhill County Interagency Narcotics Team Detectives could arrive. Detectives arrived in Toledo at 7:30 AM. Investigators quickly assembled a team, and approached the vehicle, removing and taking the suspects into custody without incident. “I am very appreciative of the cooperation my agency received from not only Toledo and Lincoln County law enforcement, but also for the great assistance of the McMinnville Police Department, Newberg-Dundee Police Department, Oregon State Police and the great citizens of the city of Willamina, who joined forces to take these two dangerous suspects into custody” Crabtree said. 40-year old John William Voigt of 134 NW First Street in Willamina was the victim of a robbery reported at 8:13 AM Thursday. Voigt was transported via LifeFlight helicopter to OHSU Hospital in Portland after he was discovered by his son, beaten and incoherent in his home.
