(PACIFIC CITY, Ore.) - Daniel William Dawson was born in Salem, Oregon on June 30, 1953 to William and Thelma (Vandehey) Dawson. Dan passed away at his home with family by his side on June 16, 2013 at the age of 59.

Daniel grew up in Newport and in Salem, Oregon. After school he lived in the Idahna area, and worked as a mill worker.

He met the love of his life, Cheryl "Cherri" Hays while he lived in Sheridan. They were united in marriage on May 13, 1994 at Niagra Falls near Blaine, OR. They made their home in Cloverdale, OR.

Daniel worked for over three years at the Red Hills Lake fish farm near Dundee, Oregon, as well as working as a mechanic. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing and canoeing, and had a lifelong love for the beach.

Daniel was a member of the Christ Reformation Church in Idaville, OR. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Dawson, and by his dad William Dawson.

Daniel leaves behind his loving family to honor his life: Wife - Cheryl Dawson of Cloverdale, OR; Mother - Thelma Cassidy and Step Father Ross Cassidy of Dallas, OR; Daughter - Christy Dawson; Sons - Isaac Dawson, and Liam Dawson of McMinnville, OR; Step children - Anna MacLeod of McMinnville, OR, and Amy Neilsen of Cloverdale, OR; Brother - Doug Dawson of Toledo, OR; Sister - Diane Dawson of Salem, OR; Grandchildren - Kolby Lehn and Grace Neilsen; and by nieces Amy and Laura Dawson.

A celebration of Daniel's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Red Hills Lake, Dundee, OR.

Cremation arrangements are in care of Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.
