Officials Say Shooting Was Consequence of Marijuana Deal Gone Bad

Investigation continues into near-fatal shooting

(SALEM, Ore.) - Today at 7:00 a.m., Detectives, aided by the Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the 4800 block of Chinook Court SE in Salem.

Detectives arrested 46-year old Shannon Sanders, the man identified as the suspect in a shooting that took place on Pennsylvania Avenue SE on June 13th of this year.

Mr. Sanders has been taken to the Marion County Jail for the crimes of Attempted Murder, Assault I, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Firearm and three counts of Menacing.

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the victims name out of concern for his safety.

The Sheriff's Office believes the shooting took place over a marijuana drug deal gone bad.
