(CANYONVILLE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and the Douglas County Medical Examiner are investigating the death of an unidentified adult male found Friday morning one mile south of Canyonville by ODOT employees.

Police say they found no obvious signs that the deceased man is the victim of a crime. His remains were located about 30 feet from the southbound lanes of Interstate 5.

OSP says today at approximately 7:46 a.m. ODOT employees reported finding a deceased adult male under a tree along the Interstate 5 southbound lanes near milepost 97.

An OSP trooper and Douglas County deputy responded to the scene and confirmed the report. ODOT employees told officers they have seen the man alive in the area during the last two weeks.

It is believed the man was a transient.

Additional follow up will be done to positively identify the man and determine the cause of death.
