(NESKOWIN, Ore.) - Coast Guard and other emergency units are searching the Oregon coast near Neskowin, Ore., today for signs of a teenaged boy who was swept out to sea Friday afternoon. An HH-65 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility North Bend, the crew of a 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Depoe Bay and local fire department crews are searching the waters near Nestucca Beach for signs of the missing boy. According to some reports, the family had just arrived at the coast near Neskowin for vacation. The parents went into a store for groceries at about 5:00 PM, and when they came out of the store, both of their 17-year-old sons had been swept into the ocean. Tillamook dispatch notified Coast Guard Air Facility North Bend that two boys had been swept out to sea and were in need of assistance. The HH-65 helicopter crew was launched and managed to rescue one of the boys who was taken to waiting emergency service workers at Nestucca Beach near Neskowin. No injuries to the boy were reported.
