Escaped Texas Longhorn Captured by Salem Police, Firefighters

After the steer was captured firefighters used water from a fire truck to help keep the steer cooled.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - An 8-year-old Texas Longhorn named Pastel escaped from the Marion County Fair at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.

Pastel and her 5-month-old bull calf escaped from the fairgrounds arena just before 2:00 PM Salem police said.

Salem police and firefighters assited in capturing the steer.

They cornered her in the center lane of 17th Street NE just north of Center Street.

After the steer was tasered by a Salem police officer, firefighters used water from a fire truck to help keep the steer cooled.

One person had minor injuries due to the incident.

It appears Pastel will be OK.
