(CANBY, Ore.) - A Canby family awoke to the sound of a raging fire and a smoke alarm this morning just after midnight.
"They looked out the window to find there storage shed fully involved in fire no more then a few feet from there home," Deputy Fire Marshal Todd Gary said. The home was evacuated while the residents notified 911 of the fire. Gary said firefighters arrived to find a outbuilding burning and extending into the home and possibly the neighboring structure. "Quick and efficient work by firefighter kept the damage to a minimum burning the side of the home but not damaging the neighboring home," he said. Firefighters were at the scene controlling the fire and checking for extension for 2 hours. Gary says damage is estimated at $15,000. He says the fire is still under investigation, and at this point a fire cause is unknown. Canby Fire, Clackamas Fire, Aurora fire, Canby Police and Canby Utility were on scene.
