Death Investigation East of Biggs Junction

The man's next of kin were notified this morning in Mississippi.

(BIGGS JUNCTION, Ore.) - Oregon State Police Police say detectives have completed their investigation of decomposed remains of an adult male in a brushy area east of Biggs Junction between Interstate 84 and the railroad tracks.

Brush cutters for the railroad company reported the discovery Thursday at approximately 11:40 a.m. Investigators and OSP Crime Lab personnel responded to the scene. According to OSP Sergeant Mitch Meyer of the Criminal Investigations Division, the victim was identified as 52-year old James Merrel Sherman, who was believed to be transient.

The man's next of kin were notified this morning in Mississippi. The investigation found nothing suspicious at the scene. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be from undetermined natural causes.
