(Earth-Delta 83) - What's your favorite memory of the 80's? Disco? Ghost Busters? MTV? Tootsy? Citizens of the Union of American States on Earth Delta 83 may not find their experiences match those of our world.

For many of them the state of the nation was very different. Yes, they watched more or less the same movies, listened to the same music, and read the same books. In fact their experiences were for all intents and purposes identical to ours.

The variation between Earth Prime and their world is that they remember very clearly what actually happened. For many the decade of the 80's was anything but the "Golden Years."

This comic was autobiographical. I lived in Lansing Michigan during the 80's, was married and couldn't find work other than delivering telephone books. The rouge-cheeked President twisted the knife in the back of the working man and we loved it. I couldn't understand it, and I still can't. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments on Nota Bene.

Works "the other direction}, too...as in Reagan ascendancy as Democratic campaigner, union leader, collaborator with GE as PR-spinner...built on acting success and TV career. Then deliberate, planned reversal to become so-called "conservative", largest deficit-maker in our then-history, most attacking of union-killers, deepest "supply-side" diver...remember Bush I "VOODOO Economics !" ?

I think this is the way it's been since the politicians realized the talent of the actors guild. Even bad actors/actresses were qualified., welcome and believed by those masses who are barraged by the media hype during voting cycles. Content had/has nothing to do with it. Bear in mind the present congress and their sincere acting to get their jobs and into the next presidential election. Thank you very much.

On Public Radio last night: British (couldn't hear his name) documentary film maker's newest film "The War on Democracy" has been released. He has been successfully in the business since the nineteen sixties. The film claims to reveal the honest truth about Chavez of Venezuela. Apparently, Chavez was elected by the people in an honest and democratic way (we might take lessons) and is the most popular politician in his country of any in the world. Naturally, his democracy is the one under attack. Interesting. We probably won't have the opportunity to see the film in this country. Can't imagine the powers that be allowing that to happen. Too bad. Claudine
