(NEWBERG, Ore.) - A Newberg man was arrested for seven counts of first and second-degree theft following a monthlong investigation into alleged property and cash thefts from his employer. Sergeant Tim Weaver with Newberg-Dundee Police says 48-year old Donald Scott Kum of Newberg, was arrested Monday, January 26th, as search warrants were being served on his home, car and two storage units. He allegedly removed numerous electronic components and cash from his employer, Lewis Audio Video in Newberg, Weaver said. "Investigators found several digital televisions, sound system components, cameras and related accessories, parts and batteries in the search warrants," Weaver said, adding that Kum has reportedly been employed by Lewis Audio Video since 2003. Police were alerted by the business owners after discrepancies were discovered in inventory lists, and customer accounts, according to Weaver. "Kum is alleged to have altered the accounts to keep some cash for his own use, including changing customer invoices to have received items the customer did not order. So far, officers have not found any customer to be victims of identity theft, credit card fraud nor have any customers lost any money, services or property from Kum's alleged thefts." Weaver says all losses have been tracked back to the business. "Kum had rented two large storage units from a local business for several months. Officers searching them found and removed several items including digital televisions and sound systems," Weaver said. He believes Kum had plans to sell or use the items in the future. The property loss is still being tallied and the investigation continues into Kum's activities is continuing. Kum is held for $60,000 bail at the Yamhill County Corrections Facility, McMinnville. A Yamhill County Grand Jury will hear the case later this week. Articles for January 26, 2009 | Articles for January 27, 2009 | Articles for January 28, 2009 | Quick Links
