Richard Falk Under Fire for 9/11 Comments on his Personal Blog

A grand exercise in hypocrisy... as usual, the accusers are more guilty of the crimes than the accused!

(MELBOURNE) - UN Human Rights Council, and law professor Richard Falk, is under fire from the usual suspects for expressing skepticism about the official 9/11 story.

This is what Falk had to say about 9/11 on his blog:

The arguments swirling around the 9/11 attacks are emblematic of these issues. What fuels suspicions of conspiracy is the reluctance to address the sort of awkward gaps and contradictions in the official explanations that David Ray Griffin (and other devoted scholars of high integrity) have been documenting in book after book ever since his authoritative The New Pearl Harbor in 2004 (updated in 2008).

What may be more distressing than the apparent cover up is the eerie silence of the mainstream media, unwilling to acknowledge the well-evidenced doubts about the official version of the events: an al Qaeda operation with no foreknowledge by government officials. Is this silence a manifestation of fear or cooption, or part of an equally disturbing filter of self-censorship? Whatever it is, the result is the withering away of a participatory citizenry and the erosion of legitimate constitutional government. The forms persist, but the content is missing.

Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations comes out with the strongest condemnation for Dr. Falk, she said, “I am appalled by the recent personal blog written by Richard Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on “the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.”

In this blog post, dated January 11, 2011, Mr. Falk endorses the slurs of conspiracy theorists who allege that the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were perpetrated and then covered up by the U.S. government and media. Mr. Falk’s comments are despicable and deeply offensive, and I condemn them in the strongest terms.

I have registered a strong protest with the UN on behalf of the United States. The United States has in the past been critical of Mr. Falk’s one-sided and politicized approach to his work for the UN, including his failure to condemn deliberate human rights abuses by Hamas, but these blog comments are in another category altogether.

In my view, Mr. Falk’s latest commentary is so noxious that it should finally be plain to all that he should no longer continue in his position on behalf of the UN. I would note that U.S. and many other diplomats walked out in protest in September 2010 when Iranian President Ahmadinejad made similarly slanderous remarks before the UN General Assembly. The United States is deeply committed to the cause of human rights and believes that cause will be better advanced without Mr. Falk and the distasteful sideshow he has chosen to create.”

Hilel Neuer, the Executive Director of UN Watch a pressure group affiliated with the American Jewish Committee, an international think tank and advocacy organization established in 1906, whose stated mission is “to monitor the performance of the United Nations ,  has also called for Dr. Falk to be sacked.

Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary-General, described the comments as “preposterous” and “an affront to the memory of the more than 3,000 people who died in the attack.” But Mr Ban said that it was not for him to decide whether Dr. Falk, who serves the organization as a special investigator into human rights abuses in the Palestinian territories, should be fired by the UN.

Noxious,” “despicable,” “affront,” “offensive,” all the right adjectives, the wrong accused!

Rice and Neuer’s demand for the dismissal of Dr. Falk is an undeniable blatant abuse of human rights and an obvious, transparent attempt to censure and censor public debate about the events of 9/11. Falks’ comment intended only to support the effort to investigate further “unexplained gaps in the official version.”

The official 911 commission members are on public record saying that they know that evidence was withheld and witnesses perjured themselves.

That leaves no wiggle room for ‘conspiracy theory’ Ms. Rice!

Yes, an affront… but you are accusing the wrong person of affronting the memory!

It is an affront to the memory of those lost in the attack, and an insult to the intelligence of the survivors and the rest of us, for the USG, the US Media and the UN to maintain the cover story and obvious white wash which they had in place even before the event and the towers came a tumbling down in free fall according to plot!

That the USG, The UN and others still refuse to accept the obvious, or even debate, study or argue the evidence is an insult to the memory of the dead, and the intelligence of the living.

And Ban Ki-Moon, instead of taking a leadership position commensurate with his office, demonstrates typical inadequate and weak leadership which has become the hallmark of the UN, passes the buck downward, and into the lap of some subordinate with the obvious intent of making him the executioner of Falk’s career, and the fall guy or stooge who will bear the heat for his execution.

Richard Falk stands tall and will join Helen Thomas and a legion of other heroes who simply had the courage to speak out, in an attempt to reveal the truth. Dr. Falk is no old fool, he was not speaking without thinking. He knew what he was doing and he already knew what the fallout would be.

It is a heroic choice…, he could have done it the easy way with a nicey-nicey “thank you for all of the fish,” and a “So long, its been good to know ya.” resignation, citing all of the false reasons, but he chose to make a statement… or, rather, to force them to make the statement, which exposes the truth of who and what they are, proves his point, and does more injury to them than they can ever do to him!

The man goes down fighting, like a man should!

He won!

He should be rewarded! Instead, he will be persecuted and hounded. They will slander and ridicule him, this is the way of the Guilty.

I will call him a man of impeccable moral standards and iron principle, with the courage of a Lion.

You did good Dr. Falk. They cannot take that away from you!
