(SALEM, Ore.) - A suspected car thief was arrested early this morning around 5:20 AM by Marion County Sheriffs deputies who responded to a report of a person breaking into cars parked along the 4200 block of Vicki Way NE in Salem. Lieutenant Dan Connor with the Marion County Sheriffs Office ways that while en-route, deputies were given a description of the involved subject.

"As Deputies were arriving in the area a male subject was seen matching the description of the possible suspect. As Deputies attempted to contact the man he took off running."

He says deputies chased the subject on foot through several backyards and down streets. Other deputies responded to assist in securing the area to prevent the suspects escape.

Deputy Jerry Wollenschaleger and his K-9 partner "Yo" also responded. Once they arrived on the scene a K-9 search began, Connor said.

"The K-9 and Deputies located a male subject hiding in the bushes alongside a house near the intersection of Hollywood Drive NE and Leafwood Drive NE."
