(SALEM, Ore.) - City of Salem's Emergency Preparedness Manager Roger Stevenson was recently presented the Crystal Award - 2008 for Regional Excellence by the Hospital Preparedness Program in Region 2.

This federally sponsored program is a multi-county consortium of hospitals and other health care providers working to improve their ability to respond to disasters. According to Program Director Ann Steeves, "Roger has been since its inception an integral part of the Regional effort. He is always a team player, mentor, and stabilizer in the group and makes sure we stay on task and that the ideology is in line with the pure emergency management efforts."

Steeves went on to say that Stevenson has been a catalyst for change regionally, and "a supporter of solid concepts-helping to move them forward, and a stable force and thoughtful voice in the audience as we work to create a 'regional system' for medical surge."

She says he has been able to build bridges between disciplines and to share his years of wisdom and experience with a friendly smile!
