(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - Several media outlets are reporting this morning that John Kerry, the Democrats 2004 nominee who lost to George W. Bush, will endorse Barack Obama for President.

Kerry, the 4-term senator from Massachusetts, plans to announce his support later today at a rally at the College of Charleston, Democrat familiar with Kerry's decision told The Associated Press.

In the 2004 Democratic Presidential primaries, Kerry defeated Democratic rivals, Sen. John Edwards, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and retired Gen. Wesley K. Clark.

His victory in the Iowa caucuses is believed to be the tipping point where Kerry revived his sagging campaign in New Hampshire and the February 3, 2004 primary states including Arizona, South Carolina and New Mexico. Kerry then went on to win landslide victories in Nevada and Wisconsin.

Yesterday, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin said she is throwing her support behind Obama citing his unique ability to give voice to America's future and his ability to bring the American people together to bring change.

Cody, what are you talking about? I would never get kicked out of a community college journalism class, now or in the past. Good luck with your learning process young man...hopefully you will learn to develop some real critical thinking skills as you go through the learning process, both academically and via life experience. Note: Regarding this above article that dealt with Sen. John Kerry's endorsement of empty suit Obama you would have to understand that the vast majority of veteran's have absolute contempt for this cowardly traitor. Kerry should have been prosecuted for his vile actions, something that happened long before you were born young man. Possibly you might like to attend a Vietnam Veteran's Association meeting, or one with the American Legion, the VFW, DAV, different POW organizations etc. , and learn exactly why Kerry is so intensely disliked, even hated. Probably something you have not heard during your young past, especially if you attended public schools and had parents or other family members who are also has uninformed as you. Cody political opinions easily promulgate bad feelings when people offer contrasting opinions, if you cannot deal with the softball comments I posted below, then maybe you should re-think just exactly what you want to do with your life. People like me, Cody, want you to have the best possible chance at succeeding in life, so good luck to you. P.S. In due time Obama will stumble, then he will just be a distant memory. He is not going to win, the American voter, collectively will not allow that travesty to happen.

Cody January 17, 2008 12:06 am (Pacific time)

I am afraid Jefferson, that from your words, and highly biased opinions, it is hard for me to take anything of what you say seriously. First, I will begin by saying that your comments have nothing to do with the Kerry issue, and only try and distort, or other wise distract minds from the real issue at hand. As such, though I may be 18, I am not moved easily by your ideals. I am not blinded by irrelevant information. If you so choose to address me with words, make them mean something. And I really have no care about other sources, unless you are stating a fact that is a part of the current conversation. With your reference to "The Lancet's Political Hit Wall Street Journal ^ | 1/9/8 Three weeks before the 2006 elections, the British medical journal Lancet published a bombshell report estimating that casualties in Iraq had exceeded 650,000 since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003. We know that number was wildly exaggerated. The news is that now we know why. It turns out the Lancet study was funded by anti-Bush partisans and conducted by antiwar activists posing as objective researchers. It also turns out the timing was no accident. Skeptics at the time (including us) pointed to the Lancet study's manifold methodological flaws." I find it both irrelevant, and grossly unneeded. You, sir, would have been asked to leave my journalism class... or any class that required logical thinking.

Next time you approach the board with facts, statistics, or other grossly chewed up information, spat out from many mouths and repeated, make it hit me with its importance, or don't aim it at me at all.
Sincerely,
Cody

This endorsement by Kerry is really pretty great for us conservatives. Hopefully Ted Kennedy will do likewise...

To all: For Friend Jeff, this is invitation to Senseo any time at my home in Bend...takes little imagination to find street address. Your buddyboy other-vets also welcome; only caveat they leave impale-stakes, used in some confrontations worldwide, at door. That applies also to your waterboard equipment too. Will also have several large friends helping me with Senseo since that is such difficult operation it dements me to run it, even after much practice lately with other peaceful groups seeking further counsel on issues. Can also arrange local press coverage easily, if desirable, in lieu of any word from hero North on his appearance or participation via audio-link. That starts with leading radio but need not be so confined; perhaps might even make several Oregon tv-news stations; will check with the current news directors there. Will you wish me also to arrange for any needed medical or fire equipment, for later contingencies ?? IF this invitation to be accepted, please seek phone and email address for any arrangements from Editor, at which time you can also leave with him Op Ed "answer" as you see fit; your choice of any one or more of 20 previous invitations for Op Ed. Should make very intriguing event in this lackadaisical small city, especially since your cohort should be well known here, and thus their attendance illuminate my own status of new arrival in Bend. Really welcome your open challenge to "confrontation", since no way it can ever happen without your surrender of tree-concealment, which is and has been only issue here all along.

Henry Ruark January 11, 2008 4:43 pm (Pacific time)

Point of published work is that some editor thought enough of it to pay for it. Useful test for any writing professional, for which no other workable substitute has ever been found. SO only natural to ask, again, even though repetitive, where's anything you did to pass that test ? Don't miss weekender Op Ed, upcoming, which will just about top the 6th-million mark for me; but you can conceal your congratulations, I'll never miss 'em...

Jefferson January 11, 2008 3:10 pm (Pacific time)

EDWARDS HAS BEEN "SWIFTBOATED" BY lURCH!

Neal Feldman January 11, 2008 3:03 pm (Pacific time)

Jefferson - "simply a way of seeing different perspectives" = delude oneself with neocon propaganda. 'Simple' indeed. LOL! Ah well...

Jefferson January 11, 2008 2:43 pm (Pacific time)

People have you noticed how the democratic presidential candidates are starting to get real personal. Chillary has lost the black vote, so Obama's run for vice president (and that's what it is!) is kaput. Also please notice Henry/SDI's 12:32 comment on tolerance. Also from previous posts he let's you know that if you have never been published before, then your opinion means nothing. Real tolerant of the BM Warrior. Yeah folks I make some simple opinion posts and then here come the SDI...it's because of people of his ilk that newspapers have been taking hits and seeing their circulation reduced. The majority of Americans have simply not only outgrown these pitiful screed rappers, but they have wised up to their nonsensical ideological ramblings...not all of them of course, but they are fading. Attention: For those of you who would like to meet several generations of war hero's, come to the American Legion in LaPine. You too SFI, there are a number of my former military associates from Warm Springs, Prineville, Redmond, Sisters, Bend and the surrounding area who would love to meet you. Maybe you could tell them about those 5 million words you've had published? Also we have a private poker game to follow, I'll stake you!

Henry Ruark January 11, 2008 12:37 pm (Pacific time)

To all: Note, again, reference to information re Soros far beyond what ordinary mortals could ever hope to achieve...one more simple, silly, self-defeating symptom for advancing abdication of mind while odd matters (a la Soros) suddenly seem so scintillating they have to be made major focus for both feeling and then statement. What more do you need to place POM where he surely now deserves to rest ???

Henry Ruark January 11, 2008 12:32 pm (Pacific time)

To all: "The far left cannot stand different perspectives." Once again POM puts tongue into grinder and turns handle. History clearly shows "left" including progressives, as far more diverse and demanding of various viewpoints than the "right" has ever been...and also far more divisive when anything except FAR, FAR Right has ever been attempted. Try dialog with others similarly besotted with own importance from FAR RIGHT injection of intolerance, and you will find similar behaviour and Comment-making, too.

Jefferson January 11, 2008 12:01 pm (Pacific time)

As I wrote previously the far left cannot stand different perspectives. Mathew I know more about Soros than you could possibly imagine...if you only knew what his endgame was. Give objectivity a chance people. The below data is simply a way of seeing different perspectives. Those of you who believe the people that the Wall Street Journal are reporting on, then do so at your own peril. I imagine Matt has done statistical research on a post-doctoral level with feldman and henry/SDI...P.S. Matt, SDI edorses the WSJ, so there!

Henry Ruark January 11, 2008 11:29 am (Pacific time)

POM is easily understood as new initials for N-N, as "pathetic old man". Matt caught him trying to seduce new entrant to respected fraternity of journalists, with precise and accurate statements destroying POM attempt. He did same-distortion re fact of famous Editor unable to stomach Murdoch and leaving for new investigative group, "obscuring" fact that Editor gained international fame for straight-news coverage in WSJ despite GOP-lean editorially which Matt illuminates well. SO twice-with-same item is sure proof of malign intent here to mislead, propagandize, distort and otherwise massage --and thus damage--open, honest channel offering dialog opportunity in good faith for others. Thank you, Matt...!!

Matt Johnson January 11, 2008 10:43 am (Pacific time)

Oh please, everyone knows that the Wall Street Journal is in the pocket of republican party and they have been for years. Don't try to influence this young man with your poison Jefferson, your ideas border between acceptance of propaganda and outward mistruths. George Soros' money really makes guys like you nervous doesn't it? You probably have nightmares about Democrats and peace lovers and women and children's advocates having the floor, but our day is almost here. Of course I suspect you in reality know nothing about Soros or anything else for that matter, you couldn't since you work from fictitious news sources like FOX Noise. I'm afraid you wouldn't know truth if it was lobbed at your glove like a fastball. You are truly a bag blowing in the wind Jefferson.

Jefferson January 11, 2008 9:56 am (Pacific time)

Cody have you any formal training in statistics? The below Wall Street Journal article (endorsed by Henry/SDI) provides some insight that some poster's on this site will really hate, but they will ignore it. Hopefully you will see this as a learning process, like the coming Obama exposure, also based on facts: TO THE FAR LEFT THE TRUTH IS IRRELEVANT AND THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS BE IRRELEVANT! The Lancet's Political Hit Wall Street Journal ^ | 1/9/8 Three weeks before the 2006 elections, the British medical journal Lancet published a bombshell report estimating that casualties in Iraq had exceeded 650,000 since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003. We know that number was wildly exaggerated. The news is that now we know why. It turns out the Lancet study was funded by anti-Bush partisans and conducted by antiwar activists posing as objective researchers. It also turns out the timing was no accident. Skeptics at the time (including us) pointed to the Lancet study's manifold methodological flaws. What the National Journal adds is that the Lancet study was funded by billionaire GEORGE SOROS'S Open Society Institute. The two co-authors, Gilbert Burnham and Les Roberts of Johns Hopkins University opposed the war from the outset and sent their report to the Lancet on the condition that it be published before the election. Then there is Lancet Editor Richard Horton, "who agreed to rush the study into print, with an expedited peer review process and without seeing the surveyors' original data. He has also made no secret of his politics, 'This axis of Anglo-American imperialism extends its influence through war and conflict, gathering power and wealth as it goes, so millions of people are left to die in poverty and disease.'" We also learn that the key person involved in collecting the Lancet data was Iraqi researcher Riyadh Lafta, who has failed to follow customary scientific practice. Mr. Lafta had been an official in Saddam's ministry of health. In other words, the Lancet study could hardly be more unreliable. Yet it was trumpeted by the political left because it fit a narrative that they wanted to believe. And it wasn't challenged by much of the press because it told them what they wanted to hear. The truth was irrelevant. (Excerpt) Read more at online.wsj.com ...

If Kerry's endosment means so much ---How come he's not giving it another shot.... Go Hillary

Henry Ruark January 10, 2008 2:42 pm (Pacific time)

Cody et al: Apologies for necessity here to defend channel from ongoing attack, part of national move underway to damage and depreciate open channel dialog such as we enjoy here --when it is allowed to be both open and honest and undistorted. Your note re your conclusion appreciated and adds that much more sense here, when badly needed. Do not be dismayed by such as you will encounter here from time to time; that's part of the business, and Tim's courage in allowing the full freedom we can accord to such without demolishing room and values for all others is commendable.

Henry Ruark January 10, 2008 2:37 pm (Pacific time)

To all: You can read plain English for yourselves, and also not-so-plain coded language, too. SO leave it at that. I have no necessity to demean, nor devalue N-N, since he does it better for himself than I can ever hope to do.

Cody Sheets January 10, 2008 2:04 pm (Pacific time)

Sorry guys, but I seem to think that this will solidify the Obama lead over Hillary, because although Kerry did lose, he carried a substantial amount of the democratic vote to even get as far as he did. And with that, with his support, I think Obama will be able to trample Clinton, even if she changed her tactics from hardball to "emotional" Also, I am not so sure she is the most stable...but that's an entirely different story.

Jefferson January 10, 2008 1:27 pm (Pacific time)

It was brought to my attention that Henry/SDI felt that my 11:39 post was somehow racist. Absurd! That's an amazing jump only a true lefty would make, ergo, saying anything people of this ilk do not like supposedly let's them make-up anything you say (mind-reader?), i.e. , they make up their own meaning and attach it. People I have been saying this since I started posting on this website, Henry/SDI will never allow an alternative view be made without demonizing it...just evaluate that reality. Even if you are on the far left, use some common sense. Debating issues can be uncomfortable, but the people of SDI's ilk do not want debate, they want to inculcate with unanswered propaganda!

Henry Ruark January 10, 2008 12:47 pm (Pacific time)

NOT MUCH OF AN ENDORSEMENT, WHEN YOU THINK KERRY LOST TO BUSH.

Poor Obama, he just lost with this endorsement (bottom lip protruding).
