(CLEVELAND) - We are living in an epic time on this planet; big things are taking place on every level and it is widely believed that we are very possibly entering the final chapter or chapters of life as we know it. This is not the time for people to disregard God or underscore the meaning of what our role on this earth is; it is also a bad time to forget what this life is about. It is however, as fine of a time as any to pay attention to what this thing called 'money' has led us to. Do American people really have so much insulation that they can't see they too have a role in this world above and beyond their immediate needs? Are we losing the rat race? You can't take money with you when you go, and burial cloaks have no pockets. And while the absurd abuse of money continues to wreak havoc and harm, people ask why the new dollar coin does not have the inscription, “In God We Trust”. First, the US is a nation founded on a principle of separation of church and state. There is the "Islamic Republic of Afghanistan" and the "Jewish State of Israel" and then there is the United States; the home of religious freedom, though you wouldn't know it by watching mainstream media. Why would God want his named fixed to the US dollar and all of the damage it represents in the world? That is the real question.
In God We Trust On Money? That's Funny!
Many people are involved in a so-called monetary unjust, A very slick imposter hustler slides into ACORN seeking money, Assuredly, just as sure as Thursday follows Wednesday & without fail, As many are screaming for assistance their sounds fall on deaf ears, By the way, it was all just an error on some, a simple mistake, However, those coins are selling for $50 so they can’t be fake, Dig this, without the inscription they’re worth a whole lot more, And so the fact that they have more value might make Him sore. Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in. We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end. Even though it’s still a knife, rhyme poetry helps to dull the blade. And that’s my job. The inscription "In God We Trust" is actually on the edge of the coin. It's harder to see, but still there.
